A Season to Pause, Reflect, and Celebrate Together
Every December, the Charleston SC residential architecture industry does something rare: it collectively exhales. Many job sites go quiet. Saws stop humming. Teams step away from drafting tables and design meetings with homeowners. And for a brief, meaningful stretch of time, there is a pause.
At Camens Architectural Group, we make it a point to give our team space before Christmas and New Year’s to truly take a step back – it’s a time to reflect, rest, and recharge. Creativity needs space and oxygen, and the holidays offer that.
When the rush slows down, something inside each of us resets. “It’s a rhythm I’ve come to appreciate deeply,” says chief architect Marc Camens.
A Tradition of Gathering
A company holiday tradition is our annual Christmas party. Some years, we’ve hosted it at Marc’s home – complete with catered meals, Christmas carols, a fire going, spouses joining us for a night that feels more like family than work.
“Those memories stick with me,” says Marc.
This year, we took the celebration to a venue that holds a special place for Marc and the team: Volpe, the Italian restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina, by renowned chef Ken Vedrinski.
“Ken is not only a dear friend – he’s a source of inspiration for me in the culinary world,” says Marc. “His work reflects the same principles I value in architecture: craftsmanship, artistry, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.”
Marc has collaborated with Ken on four restaurant projects over the years – including the beautiful renovation of Volpe that opened this past fall. (If you know Ken, you know he even beat Bobby Flay on the Food Network – his talent is unmatched.)
“To return to Volpe, to sit together in a space we helped bring to life, and to have Ken cook for us – family-style Italian dishes made with heart – felt like celebrating the season in the best way possible: honoring craftsmanship, connection, and the joy of creating together,” added Marc.
A Look Back and a Look Ahead
As 2025 ends and we look ahead to 2026, we are so grateful.
Grateful for our team.
Grateful for our clients who trust us with the spaces that shape their lives.
Grateful for the chance to pause, reconnect, and step into a new year with passion, clarity, and purpose.
Wherever this season finds you, we hope you feel the same sense of calm and renewal.
Happy holidays – and warm wishes for a restorative start to the New Year!
